Our Story

Welcome to Snakeling! I'm the solo developer behind the game. Thank you for trying my game, I really hope you enjoy it.

First off, I want to say this is not a pay-to-win game, and it will never be such a game. The only thing that matters in this game is your skill and maybe a little luck. I have seen way too many games offer players unfair advantages just because they have money. This is not a game about who has a larger bank account, find another game if that interests you.

Here, the playing field is level for everyone, right from the start.

I have many years of experience programming software applications for all kinds of systems, but this is my first video game. I always wanted to write one and liked the genre of snake games where you cut people off to win points so I thought it would be the perfect fun little project.

Early on, I kept reading about how making the game online multiplayer was one of the hardest things a developer could do. So naturally I wanted to try it, how hard could it be? Looking back now, "madening and frustrating" would be a better word to described multiplayer game development. This game required Go, Rust, C, C++, Defold, and LUA to bring it to life. When I get more time I will start a blog to explain how it all works with design decisions I had to make along the way.
